About who? Me?

This is not a post I’ll broadcast and try to get the most views on but if you’re scrolling through my page and happen to stumble upon this and are interested in getting to know more about me, great and I actually appreciate it. Sometimes I wonder why anyone would be interested in knowing about MY life out of everyone there is in the world or even the blogging community. I guess it’s nice to know exactly where the writer of blogs are coming from and where their heart is. I decided to name by blog “Happkeyness” because happiness is key, that’s all there is too it!

Obviously, my name is Nicole. I’m eighteen years old and yes, to some other bloggers that may be a little too young to have a successful blog but I think I’d like to know where this will go. I actually am only graduating high school in a few weeks, seems crazy to me but it’s nothing to you. I went to public school from kindergarten to the first semester of my senior year and then I switched over to an online school. I’m sure you have heard many mixed signals about online school and I was nervous when I started as well but honestly it was one of the best decisions I’ve made and I wish I would have done it sooner. My main focus of starting a blog is not to make money, (I just recently found out that you could make money by doing something you ACTUALLY enjoy), I’m not even doing this for a whole bunch of viewers either. If I end up earning money off of this, bonus! But I enjoy writing and I plan on perusing a career down that path, blogging will only strengthen my writing ability as the years go on.

Like everyone else, I’ve gone through some stuff. I was officially diagnosed with depression at age 16, but it could have been going on much longer before. I used to be very insecure about my depression, I wouldn’t even admit to myself that that’s who I was. Over the past 2 years I have become much more comfortable with the fact that I am who I am and depression doesn’t make me any less of a person. I enjoy writing about depression and my experiences with it because my biggest hope is that I can help young girls just like me know that they are not alone. I strongly believe that the more we stop walking around on eggshells with mental illnesses, the more people will treat them normally. Awareness for mental illness should be just as widely spread as everything else is, the more we talk about it the more people will be educated on it.
